The white star represents hope for the future. The flag is founded on a design used by the Revolutionary Front of Independent East Timor (Fretilin), the main assemblage opposing Indonesia’s seizure of East Timor in 1975–76.The national flag consisting of a red field with a black triangle at the hoist overlapping a yellow triangle and bearing a white, five-pointed star. This flag is ideal for the low-wind area. The lightweight design allows the flag to fly in a mild breeze. However, outdoor use in super windy areas is not recommended. The color is very sharp and vivid. In addition, the dye has been processed for UV fade resistance, suitable for outdoor use.
